How To Treat A Person In Semi Coma State After Suffering From Anoxic Brain Injury ?

My brother (56 yrs) had a TAH Total Artificial Heart implanted around the end of 08/2015. On 09/14/2015 he experienced complications became tamponade and said to have sustained anoxic brain injury. We are told that he is not brain dead and very stable . He is receiving minimal ventilator support. Now it is almost a month he is still in Coma phase but she opens her eyes, moves her eyeballs, and often blinks when we ask him to. Doctors are not hopeful about him. He does have kidney failure and his BP is normal without medication.Does he have any chance of recovery neurologically ??

Hello! It's a difficult case, really, as first step he must have spontan breathe, and then began the rehabilitation! Nobody knows really how much he will gain about his brain, but you and him must fight! All the best! Dr. Brikena Dautaj
