How To Treat A Rash On The Face In A Child?

Hi, my granddaughter age 2 has had a facial rash now for a week and a half. In the morning it seems less irritated but by late afternoon the rash is red and puffy around the eyes and cheek. She rubs her eyes because it itches her. She is in a new home which has been recently painted. We have washed her new bedding but the rash continues. Is it contact dermatitis or is it internal. She does suffer from ezima but never has had it on her face. Her doctor says to give liquid benadryl.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The rashes could be caused by allergy to some environmental allergens, bacteria or viral skin infection.Benadryl being an anti-histamine may help reduce symptoms like itches and prevent more rashes from appearing if of allergic origin.I will suggest you try the following:
-Continue with benadryl
-Bath the child with an anti-septic soap or solution like cyteal
-Give the child a steroid like celestene drops for say 5 days
If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor for examination and investigations since an infection will have to be considered.
Hope this will help
Best regards
