How To Treat A Swollen Incision After Hysterectomy?

I had a radical abdominal hysterectomy 4 1/2 months ago and I am still swollen above my incision. It is hard and very tender. How long should this take to reduce back to normal ? I also had a lot of endometriosis removed. Which I am assuming causes scare tissue.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A hard and tender scar after having a radical hysterectomy with a history of endometriosis is suggestive of scar endometriosis.
A history of endometriosis predisposes to development of endometriosis in future at some other site.
I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigation.
An ultrasound of the region and an aspiration cytology of the scar will help to determine the cause of lesion.
Excision of the scar tissue is the best treatment for scar endometriosis, however, endometriosis is known to recur.

Thanks and take care
