How To Treat A Swollen Large Intestine With Acute Pain?

My wife is 28 5'11" 172lbs. She has been having pain for 2 months just above her belly button to I guess her waist line. in the last week they have gotten worse. Took her to ER Thursday they did a CT scan, said her Large intestine is swollen, gave her dilotted for pain and antibiotic for fever, told her to call a specialist. Took her there Friday he put her on another antibiotic also (thats 2) Told her not to take the Dilotted and gave her something non narcotic for pain told her clear liquid diet. Wants to do a colonoscopy Thursday if 1 she is not feeling better 2 blood work comes back with something. Saturday pain is more intense and more frequent. She cannot eat anything without much pain. Back to hospital, Sit in ER for 9 hours and all they do is put her back on Dilotted for pain and rehydrate her then send her home. What can we do to help heal this and what can she eat. soups are just hurting her also.Help!!!!
