How To Treat Abdominal Pain After Eating?

Doctor, my father is suffering from severe stomach pain since one month. All the tests like endoscopy, blood tests, scanning of abdomen, x-ray, ecg, 2d ECHO, CT-Scan, colonoscopy are conducted and nothing abnormal found except for mild gastic problem in endoscopy. He is anemic. Finally admitted in Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, Sec bad for 2 days but the problem is continuing. Sometimes if he takes any food pain is coming and sometime if de doesn t take any food also that problem is coming. He is not getting proper sleep. Always stomach pain is there. He is only on liquids like coconut water, butter milk. He has lost 5 kg in just 1 month. What is the problem & what is the cure? Please advise?

Hello,

The information you've shared with us is not enough. "All the tests" does not mean much because - for example - several modalities can be employed to scan then abdomen. One important radiological test that may be indicated in your father's case is CT angiography of the abdomen, in search of mesenteric ischemia. Chronic mesenteric ischemia may present with pain that follows a meal and patients refrain from eating. I cannot say whether this is his problem or not but this is a usually neglected diagnosis in patients with abdominal pain; that's why I've suggested it.

Without the test reports it's useless to guess though, so you'd better ask another question and provide all the necessary information (both clinical and lab-radiological reports). And - of course - I cannot talk about potential cures without an established diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
