Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had acid reflex for the last several years. As a general rule, I take Zantac to treat it. For these last 4 days, I was without my Zantac medication. Now, as a result, I have a bruised feeling in my esophagus. I was hoping that you might be able to shed some light on what I may have done to myself. Also, how serious is this condition and what can I do to make things better. This esophageal pain is most pronounced when I am drinking liquids.
GERD in not an emergency disease but if not treated it will lead to serious conditions you have to take zantac regularly and antacids as well and of course avoid heavy meals and sleeping directly after meals and if this condition happens again you have to make upper endoscopy
