How To Treat An Internal Injury Due Falling While Skiing?
Hi I have a friend who was skiing and he fell on his back right above his hip on the left side. He had a massive bruise about the size of a watermelon but now the bruise has gone away and he now says he has a hard mass internally and it hurts when u push on it could u possibly tell me what might be going on currently?
Hi, This is most likely to be related to the massive bruise that developed. The blood that collected in the muscle which was the cause of the pain and visible bruise has now consolidated and formed a solid mass. This will, in time, resolve but this may take a few weeks and cause some pain. I suggest paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain. This area is close to the kidney. If there appears any blood in the urine, this would be an indication to seek medical attention. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger, MBChB FRCA
