Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bipolar, manic depressive girlfriend who goes through fits and turns both aggressive and suicidal. She believes what she feels no matter what the reasoning or how she got to feel that way, be it by misunderstanding or not. She defends what she feels with reasons like it doesn t matter why i feel like this, all that matters is that i do . I have been trying to handle it myself but with mixed results each time, leaning on a slow decline. She has no family or friends and she and i live together in my parents house. What can i possibly do to help that does not involve a hospital.
Hi..Can understand your concern. As per your query about aggressiveness ,anger and suicidal thoughts in your friend may be due to some anxiety and stress and should be given a psychological counselling either by family member,a psychologist or a person whom he trusts.Avoid conditions which aggravates her mood and give her some change which she loves and which can change her mood .She should give more time to sleep as lack of sleep also causes anger and aggressiveness. She should do relaxation exercises and medication to control this type of thinking and behaviour. Wait for few days and watch her behaviour and activities. If no change seen a psychiatrist should be consulted.I hope the information helps you.Take care.
