How To Treat Blockage In Artery Despite Having Cholesterol In An Elderly Person?

My father has 10% heart function- only one artery has 70% blockage the others are 99 or 100%. He is diabetic, takes meds for cholesterol, hbp, and is in hospital now for trouble breathing. They are giving him lasix to reduce fluid. He has a pacemaker/icd. The doctors are sending him home tomorrow. He is 72 and in generally poor health. How long can he live like this? He has a DNR order and no life support.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

I can't rationalize the reason for sending him home like this. He can't cope with this. If not contraindicated, they should go for angioplasty of the blocked vessels of the heart. With tripple artery dosease, we often go for CABG (Bypass) surgery, but as he is old and generally has poor health so I think they may not go for CABG. Consult a cardiac Surgeon as soon as possible for that.

If he comes home with all of this scenario, he can't sirvive longer without help and care.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
