Hi, It seems that your daughter is suffering from iron deficiency anemia. It is common to feel breathless when you have moderate/severe anemia. She needs to get routine blood work done. Which would help determine the duration of therapy for iron replacement. In her age group (22 yr), the most common cause of iron deficiency anemia would be heavy menstrual bleeding, poor nutritional intake. I would recommend seeing a doctor to resolve her iron deficiency anemia, which would resolve her breathlessness. Ativan belongs to a group of medications called Benzodiazepines. They have anxiolytic and sedative effects. They also suppress your respiratory center in your brain. Ativan has no role in the management of breathlessness that is associated with iron deficiency anemia. It is possible that she was mistaken for having breathlessness due to anxiety. Take care.
