How To Treat Bronchitis With Burning Sensation And Elevated D Dimer?
I have bronchitis and I had to go in the ER my lungs felt like they were burning. The doctor ordered blood work and it came back D Dimer was elevated so he did a x-ray and CT scan looking for a blood clot in my lung everything checked out okay. Do I need to worry about a blood clot being somewhere else or can this virus make my blood work elevated.
D-dimer can be elevated due to inflammation somewhere in the body. So if its slightly elevated (like two or three times) inflammation is the most probable reason. If you have varices of legs, please take a look at them and see if there is no redness or pain somewhere in the varices area. Leg veins thrombosis is the most common area of blood clots. If leg veins are fine, please heal the inflammation and have D-dimers repeated. If still elevated, other rare reasons (like a cancer) should be also considered.
Hope this will help. Regards.
