How To Treat Bruise And Pain In Foot Caused Due To Fracture In Children?

My 14 year old gymnast injured her foot doing a minor exercise, not even a major skill, just a silly chin up but fell half off of the mat. Her foot hurt and after an x-ray and yesterday an MRI they said she fractured her growth plates. She has been in a boot for a week and needs to be in for another 3 weeks. The weird thing is that part of her foot doesn t hurt and she can put weight on it (though isn t). The other side of her foot is bruised and tender but not where the fracture is. How can we help the healing? Is there anything else we can do - supplements, massage, certain food? Will it take another 3 weeks and then what are looking at recovery wise? She is a high level gymnast, practicing many hours a week and can now just do conditioning.

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that other foot had a collateral damage and you can simply do hot fomentation and and apply coconut oil.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
