How To Treat Bruise And Swelling On Knee And Foot After Injury?

I fell a week ago. Went down on my knees. I had normal pain and swelling. Treated with ice. Bruising chin and all around knee. Sore and stiff for a couple days. Yesterday and today, I am having significant swelling from knee to ankle and foot. Leg full and firm. No pain. Slightly warm at shin. Not sure if this is significant or not. No sign of DVT

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms seem to be related to a muscle strain. I suggest you diclofenac ointment apply locally. I also suggest using Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine, 2 times a day to relieve the pain and swelling.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
