Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Sonia Dhawan's Response
Hi,
Excessive use of a particular area leads to more wear and tear of the area compared with other areas. Seems like you have been using your cervical area excessively and in a wrong manner. If you are into job which requires long hours of concentration with your eyes like computer or teaching learn the right techniques and postures to work for which you can contact an ergonomist.
Stiffness and pain can be reduced by otc painkillers or physical therapy but it should be followed by a specific customized exercise plan which you need to stick to on a daily basis (like a patient sticks to high BP or diabetes meds, not even missing a single day). There's no cure for the harm it has caused but the damage is not too much that it should bother you. you can live with it pain free.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Sonia Dhawan, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
