How To Treat Chills, Cough, Chest Tightness And Body Aches?

I have chills, cough, tight chest, body aches. Last week I had the same symptoms + fever and sweats & fever blisters. Went around in circles. Internist perscribed 5 day -z pack, cough syrup with codeine and valrex. Finished z- back on Friday. Symptons started up again on Saturday.

Hi,

Since your symptoms of chills, coughing, chest tightness, fever and so on have recurred after a course of Z-pack, cough syrup following will be my advice in such cases. Get the investigations done asap:
- Tests of blood for CBC, sugar and relevant investigations
- X-ray of chest

Consult your doctor again and insist for further clinical examination, investigations. Get started on another antibiotic like Amoxicillin and Clav. Anti-inflammatory medicines with anti-pyretic and painkiller properties for symptomatic relief. Continue cough syrup if coughing is more, plain steam inhalation. Regular follow up, investigations. Continued treatment will cure. Avoid contact with people with viral infection.
