How To Treat Choking Sensation Caused In Throat After Swallowing Tablet?

I swallowed a round vitamin, probiotic, down the wrong pipe. I coughed a lot! and after a couple hours coughed up what looks to be the item, although I can t be sure I coughed it all up. I m still coughing some. Is there any position to make the cough more productive ? I m worried about aspiration because the probiotic has active bacteria for the digestive track inside it, and perhaps not good for the lungs. Any reason to go see a doctor now?

Hi,

If you do not have breathing difficulty or dyspnea now, there is nothing urgent.

As it has been coughed out already, something causing obstruction of windpipe is unlikely.

Some cough may continue for few hours, and is because of mucosal irritation. If it persists beyond 24 hours, kindly see your doctor.

Need not worry about effect of bacteria on lungs, as probiotics are made of non-pathogenic bacteria.
