General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Non productive cough of your husband appears to be due to a flare up of interstitial lung disease. Since he is a known case of asthma, the present symptom could be due to exacerbation of interstitial lung disease combined with asthma also. A course of antibiotic may help if the flare up was due to a superadded infection. I would advise you to continue with nebulization and steroids as advised by your treating doctor. The flare up gradually will reduce over next few days or weeks.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
