She also has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, and was hospitalized 2 weeks ago with a critical h/h. She had to recieve 3 blood transfusions while there. We found out she has been throwing up blood and dark bowel movements. Her belly looks like she is 9 months pregnant. She is 66 years old and refuses to get help, and refuses to stop drinking. HI. From what you have described , she looks to be in a advance stage of cirrhosis. There is no definite treatment other than liver transplant. Blood and black stools indicate she has bleeding varices ans also have ascitis. Continue the treatment as advised by the Doctor. Please ask you Doctor the stage she is in . If advanced , let her give a chance to complete her wishes.
