Hello,

You are having cyst on your right cheek since a year. It sometimes becomes big and at times small in size. Cysts are normally harmless. If they are very small and not bothering much, they can just be left alone. Do not keep touching, scratching or popping it. Cyst on face normally do not cause any pain unless they rupture or become infected or even inflamed.

Most of the cysts do not go away on their own without treatment. Some cysts may require to be drained so as to relieve symptoms. Commonly cysts on the face are noncancerous, small bump that is beneath the skin. Epidermoid cysts on face rarely lead to problems or require treatment. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a dermatologist.

Your dermatologist may require to do incision and drainage, it may be removed by excision. The treating dermatologist may consider removal by laser with punch biopsy. After the cyst on face is completely removed, the treating doctor may give you an antibiotic ointment so as to prevent infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
