How To Treat Dark Discoloration On The Toe Caused Due To An Injury?
Hi, my mom is PAD patient. She is RA arthritis patient since last 30 years. 3 month ago she got small cut in her toe. Which didn t heal properly And turned black. Doctor checked with Doppler and found there is very less blood circulation there. We consulted Vascular surgeon, did angioplasty and put stent in her left calf. Now it s been a month, she is not eating enough food and feeling weak. She lose some weight as well. Is it normal?
This is of great concern to me. It is called gangrene and usually occurs when is a poor blood supply in legs and toes. Your doctor did the right thing to put a stent in a blocked vessel which is going to improve the blood flow towards leg. If she ever experiences similar episodes take her to emergency immediately because its an sign of dying tissue.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
