How To Treat Deep Pain And Swelling On Right Leg Caused After Being Stung By An Insect?
Multi tier events. Husband sat in chair and got stung by several hornets two weeks ago. Week later looks like ugly bout with poison ivy on inside of both ankles (but cannot understand where he could have gotten p.i.) ankles and calves swollen through all this. Just recently has deep pain in inside R leg at ankle, above and radiating up and toward Shin bone.Deep dark color and swollen ankle, both but especially that R ankle/leg. Have apt with bone and joint place tomorrow but now wondering if general acute care facility more appropriate because of multi issues. Ibuprofen. Cortisone prescription for p.i. of course, we are out of town (in Chicago.) Who do you believe he should see?
The symptoms seem to be related to an insect bite. I suggest using an antihistamine such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. I also recommend using a steroid cream such as Betametasone cream for local application.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
