My son is 6 months old and has had diarrhoea on going for the two weeks and today it had a spot of blood in one nappy today. Is that anything to be worried about? Do you know what is causing it? He seems a happy baby but has dirty nAppy about 4 or more times a day and it leeks through is clothes. Could it be on a going teething?

welcome to hcm, short answer : adequate dehydration of the baby is the first and main in the treatment of diarrhea. detailed answer: what is his food intake? hope you have started to weaning from breast milk recently. while doing so i recommend starting on one food at a day and if it is tolerating go for the next. give adequate electrolytes to the baby for maintaining its hydration. who recommended electral is available everywhere. the next thing is some baby foods will not be tolerated by the baby. avoid it# try giving home made baby foods and fruit pure. for such babies hope this explains with regards Dr.Amarnath
The most common cause for diarrhea or any change in bowel habits at this age is intolerance either to the type of milk or food being used.
Since it started 2 weeks ago, you may want to note any foods that he may have used in this time period that may be causing the problem.
Another cause of diarrhea is infection but it would not normally last for this period of time. If it continues you may need to take him to his doctor for an evaluation.
