How To Treat Difficulty In Walking After A Foot Surgery?

Hi I recently had reconstructive foot surgery to correct the shape of my foot and to get rid of the pain in my foot. come to find out two of my tendons were torn. The doctor said it looked like they had exploded. Its been 9 weeks since my surgery and my cast is off but I still can t walk because the pain that was in my foot before surgery is still there. Is there any mobility devices that might help me walk so that I can become self sufficient again and will the pain in my foot go away eventually?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Foot reconstructive surgery may take about 6 months or more to recover depending upon your body responds to the medications & treatment. Nerve takes quite a time to recover.

Swelling subsides slowly, stay at rest. Avoid straining or doing any high impact activity. Have patience. Take medications as prescribed & stay connected with your surgeon for follow up physical examinations.

Knee walker scooters are usually suggested to help mobility. You should consult your treating doctor as well as a physiotherapist who can help you in the initial stages with the knee walker scooter. Different types of walking frames are also available.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
