Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was given sofradex for an ear infection, now with only one day left to go in the treatment I am still walking up during the night and can t sleep at all. Should I go back to my doctor or continue as I am? Also I have been taking both paracetamol and ibebrufn for the pain and nothing is working at this sttage
Did you meet with any accident that led to injury to ears? Any history of trauma to ear? Since how many days the pain was there? Apart from pain, is there any difficulty in hearing? Any issue while you walk, like losing balance?
The medicine you are given is effective in cases of bacterial ear infections, and also reduce the swelling. Sometimes the cause may vary. It can be viral / fungal cause. I suggest after completing the course, visit your doctor or an ENT specialist and get the ear examined once again. There might be need of some blood tests and imaging tests to be done for clearer picture. Also stronger pain medicines might be suggested or the dosage might be changed by the doctor but it should be done after careful analysis and examination. Make sure you visit your doctor after completing the course.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
