I had an ear infection a few weeks ago and was prescribed antibiotics. It had caused some hearing loss from fluid build up. It's mostly cleared up now, but when I woke up this morning there was a strange crackling or popping sound in the ear that was worse off. Should I go back to the doctor for this, or is it normal?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear infection which seems to be due to eustachian tube dysfunction, fungal infection, wax build up, fluid accumulation and systemic disease infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. You should do warm saline gargles, take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear . Put Otogesic ear drops.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
