Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have extreme phelm build up in my throat. And is hard to breathe through my nose. It feels as if I need to blow my nose, nothing comes out. and it effects my eating, causes me to choke. I don t want to just treat these systems,i would to keep them in check. Dan
Understanding your concern. As per your query excessive phlegm build-up in throat means you are suffering from an ongiong upper airway infection then i recommend inhaling with hot steam, drinking a lot of non sugary fluid like water and tea and take in phlegm solving medication like acetylcystein or similar.
If this is going on longer time and there is no infection, it can be an allergy. Then i recommend doing allergy skin testing and if diagnose is prooven there is antihistamine medication available.
If you smoke it can also help your symptoms to stop/ reduce cigarette use if possible.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
