How To Treat Facial Swelling Inspite Of Taking Amoxicillin For Tooth Abscess?
I have a tooth abscess I went to my primary care doctor today because I couldn't get a appointment with my dentist she gave me a prescription for amoxicillin and ibuprofen and I have facial swelling and it seems like nothing is working how long before it gets better
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain as you have a dental abscess leading to swelling over face it doesn't resolve immediately after you start taking antibiotics and can take a long time for the swelling to subside when the bacterial infection will reduce..
The best way of resolving the swelling is by treatment of the tooth by either Root canal treatment in case if the tooth can be saved or by extraction of the tooth if cannot be saved due to extensive decay..
This can be confirmed by getting evaluated by a dentist and getting an IOPAR (X RAY) done..
You can continue the medicines as of now but treatment that too soon is must or else the ABSCESS can spread into facial spaces causing space infections..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
