How To Treat Frenulum Tear Caused After Having Intercourse?

I tore my frenulum a few minutes ago during intercourse. It bled for about 15-20 seconds with barely any pain if anything it felt like a slight discomfort. I took a shower cleaned it off an examined it to see a very smal rip and applied neosporin to it. Im curious as to how i should go about treating this unfortunate incident. How long should i wait before participating in any sexual activity ? Ive seen posts thst vary from 1-2 days up to about 3 weeks but then again they described their tear as very painfull and bleeding for hours so im a bit confused..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The small tag of skin between foreskin and the shaft of penis is known as frenulum. Usually during sexual activity, frenulum can tear. It is quite common. Such type of injury will heal without any treatment or stitches. You can consult with a general surgeon to confirm the diagnosis and then treat it accordingly. You can follow the steps that are written below-

• Prevent yourself from any type of sexual activities and masturbation for six weeks to eight weeks.
• Applying of excessive force during any type of sexual activities should be prohibited.
• Use of lubrication before sexual intercourse.
• Maintain your personal hygiene strictly.
• No condom, no sex - you should obey that rules.
• Always keep your injuried portion clean.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
