Doctor, My father aged 78 years , height 162 cm and weight 55 Kgs is a patient of prostate cancer and had undergone TURP and Bilateral Orchidectomy in January 2009 at Cacutta, India. Since then his Prostate Specific antigen is slowly rising and he was put on Caluran(Bicalutamide),50 once daily for every alternate month. The medication continued till March 2011 when doctors declared that his cancer has become hormone resistant. In May 2011 he had a sudden ischeamic stroke at Bangalore, India and was admitted to St. John s Medical College and Hospital at Bangalore. An MRI was performed in his brain and a clot was discovered. He also developed left hemiparesis. He was treated with Endarovan, Citicholine, ecospirin at hospital and underwent physiotherapy at hospital. After discharge he continues to be on anticoagulants, Ecospirin 150mg daily, Clopidogrel 75 mg daily and Atrovastatin 10mg daily. From july 2011 onwards he is being adminstered Zoledronic acid 4mg I.V. once every month on advice of oncologist. In August 2011 he had serious problms in passing urine and had to be admitted to emergency ward in hospital where permanent femoral cathetarization was done. His catheter is now being changed every month. Recently he is having vomiting problems and his quantam of food intake is getting reeduced day by day. He is now almost confined to bed and hardly sits up. It appears that he is losing weight very fast. Please advise the prognosis of his ailment and any medical advice for treatment.
