What Causes Tremors In The Body After Taking Xofigo?

My husband is being treated with Xofigo for metastatic hormone resistant prostate cancer. Treatment #2 was 4 days ago. about 2 days ago his hands began to shake and I could feel the vibration in his upper body when I put my arms around him. He also became very unsteady on his feet. He has restless leg but 2 nights ago his body was jerking several times per minute. Today he has lost strength in his legs and has been unable to pull his legs up a step. his legs just give way. He says its not his joints, he just doesn t have the strength to pull his leg up. He fell 3 times today, started using a cane voluntarily and has several times lost control of keeping his body upright. Sometimes his body bends backwards with an uncontrolled jerk. These symptoms seem to have come on suddenly, but he has had a history of falling if he steps on uneven surfaces. He is 80 years old. Today is Sunday and I plan to call his oncologist in the morning, but worry that maybe I should do something now. Could blood problems cause these symptoms. Maxine Villwock YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the body tremors are not a usual side effect of Xofigo, though it may occur in any individual case.

It could be secondary to a hematologic side effect in terms of thrombocytopenia, leucopenia or others, which should be elicited with his treating oncologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
