How To Treat Frequent Vomiting Due To Gastroenteritis?
My 2 year old has come down with gastroenteritis as she is the 3rd member of the family to get it. Her symptoms started about 12 hours ago with vomiting and she has vomited 5 times over the night. We are trying to keep her hydrated but was a little concerned about her vitals when I got home from work. RR: 55, HR: 175 She has not vomited in about 5 hours and is sleeping, tired, and is drinking liquids when we give it to her. Her temperature is 102.2 Would you suggest we see someone or just try to continue getting her to drink small amounts of liquid?
Hi, From history it seems that she might be having sever dehydration giving all these symptoms. With little amount of giving water will not serve the purpose. She might require IV infusion to correct dehydration. Take her to ER and get examined. Meanwhile continue giving water, electrolytes and ORS liquid. Ok and take care.
