Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you with thanks for a consult!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns according to the latest medical guidelines.
We need to rule out any ENT related causes of the issue like physical injury to the throat e.g. with a fishbone, or due to the blow of the throat or continuous chronic post-nasal drip etc. If anyone of them found, should be treated. Your Otorhinolaryngologist can help you for the same.
It may also be due to the
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease that causes continuous
throat irritation due to the acid. So if this is the reason, we have to resolve it through Pantoprazole + Levosulpiride for symptomatic relief. We need to go for the reason of this acid reflux e.g we can find the disease caused by h. pylori bacterial infection of the stomach and we can treat it through antibiotics and omeprazole.
A considerable number of patients get the issue of
Motor dysfunction of the esophagus. Esophageal Manometry can diagnose the same. Your Otorhinolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon will help you for that.
Retroverted epiglottis is another disease that your Otorhinolaryngologist will diagnose on laryngoscopy. In this disorder there is problem with the lid of the airpipe in throat. Partial Epiglottectomy is the surgical procedure to treat that issue.
We can detect many thyroid disorders on ultrasound that usually are not visible as a mass. Yes--they are also a major cause of Globus in many patients.
Upper esophageal sphincter tone issues are also related to globus Pharyngeus in a lot of patients. Esophageal manometry, barium swallow and Videofluoroscopy are the diagnostic tests to rule out different causes of the Globus feeling.
If this is due to the Psychiatric issue, we may need to treat it through Psychotherapy + Antidepressants. You then need to
consult a Psychiatrist who will take a complete session for in-person evaluation and will rule out other diseases that may cause depression and/or anxiety symptoms. Don't self medicate yourself. Consult a Psychiatrist if an Otorhinolaryngologist gives a clean chit after his evaluation.
Cognitive
Behaviour therapy and
Relaxation therapy is helpful You can do yoga, meditation or other soothing techniques whichever you feel better for you e.g. Deep breathing while eyes closed.
