Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have been suffering with dizzy spells, when I get out of bed I sometimes loose my balance and fall against the wall. Also when I lay in bed on my right side the room spins like being very drunk but without being sick, until I turn onto my left side. When I walk it looks like I m drunk and I have now been off work for two days and have headaches as well. Any advise please
The most common causes of dizziness/vertigo are:(1) BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) (2) meniere's disease (3) vestibular neuronitis
If the symptoms are worse with particular head movements, in this case, turning to the left as you mentioned, then it may be BPPV.
This is diagnosed by your doctor performing certain examining maneuvers in the office Treatment involves the Epley maneuver with a short course of medication.
If by assessment, it is thought to be due to another cause then other appropriate treatment would be done
I hope this helps
