I've just recently been experiencing a bit of hearing loss in my right ear. this has happened bef ore and I was perscribed amoxeclave, I believe thats what it was. any way that was when I had health insurance. I have none now, and was wondering if there is an alternative treatment. I also found a bottle of amoxicillin and have taken One dosage. should I continue? it was also perscribed to me before.
In reference to your query regarding hearing loss with cold and nasal dicharge, yu have such episode in past also and got relief by antibiotic amoxyclav.
I would like to tell you that you are having this recurrent problem due to your cold , what happens in cold you will find some infected discharge dripping down in throat called as post nasal drip, this actually deveops infection in throat which ultimately disturbs the functioning of eustachian tube (tubular connection between ear and throat). As soon as eustachian tube gets blocked your hearing will suddenly decreases and you feel it as blocked ear.
To treat it you should do-
1- Steam inhalation.
2- Anti histaminic.
3- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).
Probably this will help you.
Regards.
