Help. Please I feel heaviness in my left ear. I went to e hospital and the doctor used a light to look through and just gave me a medicine. After taking the medicine I still feel the same heaviness. The problem started last year but when I took e medicine I was ok but this time round when I took it its still not ok. Please can u suggest someing for me please? Thank you
As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for persistent heaviness in the ear as - Middle ear infection as otitis media - Conduction defect - Sensory disturbances - Issues with fine balance at cochlear apparatus - Vestibular problems
My recommendations at present: - Prescription of antibiotic drops with Gentamicin and Ciprofloxacin - Anti-inflammatory medications as Diclofenac or Ibuprofen - Antibiotics such as Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid or others with possible coverage of gram positive and negative bugs - Discuss the need of hearing test, audiometry with or without MRI with your doctor during planned visit
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
