hi my 5 year old son has had a fever for the last 5 days varing from 37.5-38.8 degrees, last night he started to complain about his ankle hurts him when hes standing or walking. Today decided to take him the hospital. they checked him out gave him a blood test and notice hey may have a viral ifection other than that they said he may get in a few days if hes not better by monday bring him in and we will check him again....Now this evening he has gotten worse fever has gone down but hes angle is still hurting him he cant even stand up long enough to do a wee in the toilet....no swelling no discoloration to his ankle whatsoever.... can anyone help?????
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, this may not be viral infection but the rheumatic fever need to be ruled out, If I would be treating physician of this case the I would ask for ASO titer and also ask for major joint x-ray study, meanwhile the condition can be treated with Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen as per needed, hope this information helps you.(Comment:- In pediatric age group patient no compromise should be done, every complaint need to be taken seriously,
