Hello,

I am sorry for your little accident. As it has been only few hours, you might feel extreme pain that may decrease in intensity after a few hours and disappear in a few days. If it would be a hematoma, you will be able to notice a green/black lesion beneath the skin of the hip. As you could walk, even though with pain, chances are less that you have fractured the bone.

I would advise you to do ice application to the area. Take painkiller like Acetaminophen 500 mg / Ibuprofen 400 mg or Ketorolac 10 mg twice or thrice a day. Local application of Diclofenac gel (Volini) will help, too.

However, if the pain worsens, you develop swelling or condition deteriorate, you should visit an orthopedic surgeon for physical examination, x-ray of the hip and further investigations.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM for your concern. I wish you speedy recovery from the injury!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
