How To Treat Hypothyroidism With Fluctuating TSH,weight Gain, fatigue And Depression While On Levothyroxin0.175mg?
Hi Dr.i been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for last 12 years, and my TSH is always up and down, right now i'm om levothyroxin0.175mg and i don't think it's helping me because i gained 20lbsin 6months and i have very low energy level all the time and depressed bad brain fog,do you think i need to see an Endo for my prob,my last TSH 18.
As your TSH is elevated and as you are feeling terrible, it is best to meet an endocrinologist who can titrate your Levothyroxine dose so that your TSH remain in normal range. Are you taking it daily?? Levothyroxine is best taken on an empty stomach in the morning. We need to look at other hormonal status as you feel depressed and tired. Another importnat thing i want to mention is that, contrary to common belief, hypothyroidism do not cause terrible weight gain. A few kilos thats it ( unless you develop a condition called Myxedema). We must carefully look for other causes of weight gain. Are you having sleep trouble especially snoring at night and not feeling refreshened after a night's sleep. This is common with people who are overweight which also could contribute to low energy.
YOU WILL SURELY BENEFIT with an endocrine consultation
