Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have inflammation of the right shoulder and elbow. Per my physical therapists recommendation, I took two Advil three times a day for seven days and it didn t help very much. My doctor has prescribed Tramadol 50mg once or twice a day, but that is for the pain only? Should I take an over the counter medication, such as Advil or Aleve, for the inflammation?
It is mainly for pain and does not have an anti inflammatory aspect so you can combine it with an anti inflammatory pain killer like either the aleve or advil that you mentioned.
There is no interaction between the tramadol and either aleve or advil so the combination can be used.
I hope this helps
