Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have small wounds on my legs that are very itchy and bleed when I scratch them. I have several below the knees on both legs and they are painful. The doctor tells me it is stress related however they did not appear until after I had a serious burn on the back of my leg that I did not have treated. I use a cream that the doctor ordered and have for three years without the wounds going away. Can you suggest a medication that would stop the itching and pain and help the wounds to heal.
It does not sound as though the lesions can be completely due to stress, stress may make them worse but would not cause them on its own.
It is possible that there is a bacterial infection present, bacteria can be introduced into open lesions especially when they are itchy and are scratched.
You would need to consider an oral antibiotic.
Treatment with a steroid cream or a short course of oral steroids may also be required.
You may want to consider consulting another doctor or a dermatologist.
I hope this helps
