Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have itchy scalp, and bumps that are like a sore; very small. I ve had this problem for over a year. It started with scaly patches like cradle cap . The scabs, when I take them off, look like they could be a parasite. I have shampooed my hair daily for about 6 months with Mustela shampoo. It helps control the itching, but I continue to have the bumps, scabs, itching, etc. what do you recommend???????
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to scalp psoriasis. A consultation with dermatologist will be helpful to rule out the condition. Scraping can be send to pathology for definite diagnosis also. For such condition using shampoos containing corticosteroid like clobetasol, anti fungal agents like ketoconazole ,and salicylic acid will be helpful. When you have active lesions this should be used daily. When it settle down you can continue using it weekly twice. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
