General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Jaundice is yellowish discolouration of skin and mucosa which is caused due to raised bilirubin levels in serum.
It is most commonly caused by virus called 'Hepatitis A virus'.
It is self limiting condition and would subside in a week to ten days. Treatment is only symptomatic like Paracetamol for fever and Liv 52 tonic.
You need to take complete rest and avoid physical strenuous activity at least for 3 weeks. Diet should be bland, easily digestible soft food. It should be rich in simple carbohydrates, moderate quantity of protein and least quantity of oil. You need to continue this diet for at least 3 weeks. Gradually, you can switch over to normal diet.
You may repeat the liver function test (LFT) once again after 3 weeks to know about the improvement.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best and wish you speedy recovery.
