Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am experiensing a pain on the Left side of the end of jaw (hold my finger right below the ear ends). I had a crown done a year ago and a month ago i had an absess root canal on that tooth. I did some remedies and the pain and foil smell went away.i am also pregnant and it makes me worry.
As per your query jaw pain during pregnancy is because of tooth infection which is resulting in abscess and pus formation involving tissue spaces and causing pain. It could be due to temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper diagnosis and to rule out causes like sinusitis and middle ear infection. You should try to relax yourself. Take ibuprofen and acetaminophen for pain. As your are pregnant surgical procedure could not be done without proper prescription. Penicillin, metronidazole combination with an analgesic will be effective to subside infection if you are not allergic. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Gargle with Listerine mouth wash.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
