How To Treat Loss Of Upper Vocal Range?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Hi there!! I am a professional singer, recently I had a bit of a heavy singing schedule, last week I had lost the high range of my voice for a couple of days, it has come back to an extent but how long does it take to get it back all the way, so I feel like my old self??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about professional singing, losing voice on high pitch after a busy schedule it seems.
Since you are a professional singer your vocal cords are well trained for all pitches.
Losing the voice at a typical range indicates a problem with the vocal cord which may be edema, small ''singer's nodule'', or so.
I would advice you the following:
Consult an ENT Surgeon and get the laryngoscopy done to know the exact problem.
I am afraid, you may need a voice rest for a week or so.
Additional anti-inflammatory medicines like Serratiopeptidase, oral steroids may be required.
Voice rest is most important.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
