How To Treat Lump On Shin Area?

I hit my shin really hard three weeks ago. The bruising is gone but the lump is the size of a small golf ball and won't go away. The lump does not hurt but the surrounding area does.
Just wondering if the lump will calcify and be permanent if I don't go see a doctor......

Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query.

you have shin lump after having traumatic injury and bruises . depending upon the nature of the injury & Characteristics of this Lump, this can be either Haematoma (a collection of the blood) or Abscess (Pus Collection), or it may be because of injury to the skin and underlying soft tissue.

after trauma , ideally you should visit the physician as such lesions need prophylaxis against Tetanus, and prophylactic antibiotics along with
Pain & Inflammation relieving drugs ...sometimes if there is collection of either blood or Pus then that needs Drainage since that has potential to get infected .
Also the treating physician checks for the mobility status of the joints & Bones and if needed ,advises Radiographs.

You have now Small golf size Lump which is although not hurting itself but surrounding areas.

you should Visit your GP for Clinical evaluation of this swelling for proper management.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
