How To Treat Meningioma Of The Left Frontal Lobe Of Brain?
Hi I have a meningioma on left frontal lobe almost 2 cm in diameter 1cm deep. I was informed today that the small area of adjacent FLAIR signal abnormality on my MRI was white matter. I have had symptoms of memory loss numbness, tingling hands and feet. The doctors seem to be playing everything down with regard to further testing. I was interested in finding out more about what this flair means. Thank you. I am 40 years old.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Flair signal is terminology used in MRI imaging. It refers to change in intensity of signal in the brain tissue adjacent to the tumorous mass in the brain. Meningioma is a benign tumor arising from meninges. Meninges refers to covering of the brain. The imaging study shows that the meningioma is compressing the surrounding brain tissue but is not invading the brain parenchyma. The treatment for meningioma is surgical excision of the tumor. You need to consult your neurosurgeon for further management.
