Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Treat Mesh Erosion Post Epigastric Hernia Repair Surgery?
I believe I may have mesh erosion after an epigastric hernia repair surgery with a twist, they rebuilt my intestinal wall with foreign mesh and since then I am having major issues such as leakage, etc. Can you describe any other symptoms associated with mesh erosion plz?
Chronic discharge from surgery site post mesh placement indicates seroma formation or infected mesh. How many days back the surgery was done and need some more details of re-surgery done and what for surgery is done. If mesh got infected there is no other option except to remove the mesh and do regular dressing of wound until the infection is subsided.
Twisting of mesh is not a major issue if it is in place because fibrous tissue grows around mesh and mild twisting of mesh is not a problem. I advise to an ultrasound done in order to know whether there is any collection beneath the mesh and plan accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
