Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was told I had a mild fatty liver (ultrasound) about 1 year ago. My liver seems to be larger than ever as I feel it constantly pushing against other things....how long should I wait to get another ultrasound. I worry it has become worse...how long does it take to turn to cirrhosis...
Hello, Fatty liver is usually monitored with US yearly. The best things you can do are to exercise, get at or keep at a normal body weight with as little fat as possible and maintain a low to normal cholesterol level. I recommend exercising every day even if it is just walking for 30 minutes. It is variable from person to person how long it takes to develop cirrhosis, but usually it takes many years if not decades. Regards
