How To Treat Mild Swelling On The Left Ankle While Suffering From Cellulitis?

I was on two oral antibiotics for ten days for cellulitis on my left ankle, starting two and a half weeks ago. I finished all the medicine one week ago. The pain is gone, the redness is gone, and it is cool to the touch, and the majority of the swelling is gone. However, there is still a little bit of swelling in one area (only about two iches long), and my skin doesn t look quite as white as it normally should be...is it still in the process of healing? Should I be concerned?

Hello,

You have been treated for cellulitis on your left ankle for almost two and a half weeks ago. It is better. Presently, you have swelling still and your skin has not yet returned to its normal color. You are suggested to keep the affected feet at rest. Do not wear uncomfortable footwear and do not put your whole body weight on the affected foot. You can take the help of a walking stick when needed. While sitting put your foot on a stool and when on bed keep it on a pillow to help reduce swelling and inflammation.

Your wound is under the process of healing so do not touch it, do not scratch or pick. Doing so will cause spread of infection. Get clinically examined by your treating doctor in a couple of days, you may need a course of antibiotic if healing is taking a longer time. Control your blood sugar level at all cost if diabetic. If not, limit your carbohydrate and sugary food intake to help healing faster. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
