Hello, You are having difficulty in hearing. You had your ears cleaned and there is no wax. You have not mentioned if muffled hearing is occurring in one ear or both the ears. Muffled hearing commonly occurs due to side effects of certain medications you have been taking, be careful about what medications you take. It can also be due to noise damage. Avoid staying near very loud sound / noise. Partial or complete perforation of the eardrum can cause muffled hearing. Get clinically examined by an ENT, to detect any type of perforation or developing tumor. Get audiometry test done, to detect the level of hearing loss. Cold and sinus infections also causes muffled hearing and ear congestion. It is treated with antibiotic, analgesics and decongestants to clear the infection.
